Replacing Instagram: Eyespace🔗

I left Instagram before joining Mastodon two years ago, and I'm not going back. I however wanted to salvage my content from there. I could repost the images on Mastodon or on Pixelfed, but keeping them inside my blog gives me a higher level of control, which I like.

That's the reason I created a new category on my blog: the EyeSpace. It's available both from the menu and from the desktop (the most recent posts).

What is it?🔗

EyeSpace is a picture uploader frozen in time. I gave it a nostalgic retro-Instagram look, recalling the earliest pre-Meta times of the app.

It supports sliding image carousels for multi-image posts and video embeds (for the two videos I’ve ever posted 😊).

EyeSpace posts are normal blog posts, so publishing one takes no more time than uploading a picture and saving text in a Markdown file.

I also translated all posts into English.

There are no highlights, no feed aggregation, no cookies, and no ads.

New topics🔗

Reviving 119 old posts and adding them to the blog also reorganized the tags. There are a couple of new ones you can browse:

• Drawing: sometimes I do this too
• Event: attending cultural, professional, or recreational events
• Finland: my experiences with Finnish life and culture
• Good cause: challenging the status quo for a better world
• Nature: taking strolls, hikes or simply admiring its beauty
• Pantry notes: mostly about food I’ve made, sometimes just about food
• Psychology: one of my favorite subjects, alongside the natural sciences
• Theater: visits and thoughts

The new posts also changed the order of the most frequent tags.
